Connection when its hard to connect
When facing challenging emotions we can be advised to ‘accept ourselves’ or be ‘kind to ourselves’. However these feelings of care towards ourselves do not always flow so easily. This advice can lead to feel alone or isolated with our difficult feelings unable to access what we are encouraged to see as the solution. Caring, liking and loving ourselves is something many of us need to practice in order to experience. This practice led by Tara Brach helps us melt some of the walls that often create barriers to feeling love and care for ourselves. What you will notice within this practice is that the starting point is to focus first on generating feelings of care for another. Again this can take time to cultivate and more difficult emotions may arise before can tap into feelings of care towards the other. However when we do these heart based practices regularly we start to notice there is a connection between care for others and care for ourselves. Once we can begin to cultivate feelings of care for others we notice our tenderness towards ourself becomes easier to access. Give it a try with this lovely practice led by Tara Brach.
